The Virginia Home for Boys and Girls is a nonprofit in Richmond that has been serving children in crisis since 1846.

Would you know what to say or do if you suspect a youth was having a mental health issue? When a young person is struggling, it’s up to all of us to notice. Anyone, anywhere can be the one to make a difference in the life of someone with a mental health challenge… if they know what to do, and what to say.

They welcome you to sign up for one of their Youth Mental Health First Aid workshops where you’ll learn the risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among adolescents. Workshops take place on their campus located in Henrico County near Parham and Broad streets, and are open to the public. They provide one workshop each month to the public but will arrange to train private groups as well. You can learn more and register for the course on their website at VHBG.org.
