Tower of Power on World Cafe

The band Tower of Power is celebrating its 50th anniversary. On the next World Cafe, Tower of Power founder Emilio Castillo tells stories about the band’s early days and writing some of their greatest hits, like the song “You’re Still a Young Man.” And, we’ll hear a ripping live performance of the song “What is Hip?” recorded in the band’s hometown, Oakland, California.

Junkie XL on World Cafe

Jack Snyder’s Justice League, Army of the Dead, and Godzilla vs. Kong – all three of these movies came out earlier this year, and Junkie XL composed the music for each of them. On the next World Cafe, hear Junkie XL talk about moving from the hit remix of Elvis Presley’s “A Little Less Conversation” into the world of film scoring over the last two decades, as he shares some of what he has learned along the way.
