25 Videos to Celebrate 25 Years of WNRN

Celebrating its 25th year, WNRN is a non-profit independent radio station providing 24-hour music content and community messaging in Charlottesville, Richmond, Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. As a music discovery station, WNRN features emerging and local artists alongside indie favorites. Through its award-winning Hear Together series, WNRN also provides a platform for its fellow non-profit neighbors to share their causes and events, identifying ways that listeners can get involved and make a difference.

Since flipping the switch in 1996, WNRN has expanded its breadth with specialty shows like Grateful Dead & Phriends, Fresh Roots New Blues, Bluegrass Sunday Morning and New Rock Now. WNRN’s live concert series, Dead Air, combines the dedicated listenership of Grateful Dead & Phriends with WNRN’s mission of championing local acts, tapping a selection of Virginia artists to each perform a rendition of their favorite Grateful Dead tune. Dead Air I and Dead Air II were recorded and pressed onto vinyl, and offered in CD or digital download format.

With in-depth interviews, intimate performances, and playlists curated by music lovers for music lovers, WNRN is proud to be the leading champion of the unique sounds and styles of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
