Take 2@2 for Thursday, December 7th, 2017. 75 years-ago-today, Harry Chapin was born.Harry-Chapin-Color-1 Chapin, was one of the most prolific and successful performers during the singer-songwriter’s era of the 1970’s. Harry Chapin was also extremely generous and fought to end world hunger. He actually spurred the creation of the Presidential Commission on World Hunger. For his efforts, Harry Chapin received the Congressional Gold Medal following his death in 1981.

In 1974, Chapin released his 4th album, Verities & Balderdash. This released made Chapin a star thanks to one song about a dad dealing with son getting too old, too quick. Take 2 versions of “Cats in the Cradle.”

Ugly Kid Joe covered “cats in the Cradle” on their debut album America’s Least Wanted. It became a top 10 hit for the group, and they never found similar success with any of their original material.
