“Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” is a spiritual song that came from America’s slaves in the 1870s. There were too many times that children were ripped away from their parents at auction blocks and thrown into a life of slavery. This song has been reworked and recorded many times over. Louis Armstrong recorded his notable take on the 1958 release Louis and the Good Book.

Dr. John’s version appears on his tribute to Louis Armstrong that came out in 2014. Ske-Dat-De-Dat: The Spirit of Satch features the mighty Mac doing classic Armstrong songs, many of which had been forgotten about over the years.

I hope you enjoy today’s Take 2@2, sponsored by Brown Automotive Group.
