Some filmmakers planning to create a biopic about Grateful Dead singer Jerry Garcia have been dealt some bad news – they’re not allowed to use any of Jerry’s music.  According to Variety, Garcia’s estate and the band’s production company are not working with the film and thus, not licensing any recordings for the production.  The filmmakers plan to use cover songs that Jerry sang instead.  No word yet on when the flick will hit theaters.

The movie is based on the book Dark Star: An Oral Biography of Jerry Garcia, which used interviews from people who knew Jerry to document the challenges he faced in life.
