Oct 24 @ 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Missy_RainesMusic is immediate. A few seconds in and you know whether you like a band or not. Missy Raines & The New Hip hits the downbeat. The riff and rhythm of electric guitar and the kick of acoustic bass and drums carry you across the first few changes. Then Missy’s clear, intimate voice tells the story. You lean in and listen.  They don’t manipulate you—they move you. This is a band that trusts the simple, basic things that create a conversation between the listener and the band: rhythm, tone, space, and great new songs. You bring your desire for something real. They bring the music.  But real and simple are not real simple. These players have honed their art. Although they are a new (and yes, hip) band, what comes through is their love and mastery of jazz, fusion, blues, Americana, and bluegrass.  They know what these styles have in common: the magic of music made fresh with each performance. The band explores old sounds and creates something new—a dialog of acoustic and electric, of drive and groove, of what is and what if.  When they play, you feel it—immediately.

Brushfire Stankgrass and Celtic Panda @ Clementine
Oct 25 @ 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Brushfire StankgrassMixing analog electronics with bluegrass backbeats, the music of Brushfire Stankgrass is instantly unique. The band has significant crossover appeal with bluegrass/newgrass buffs and electronic music fans alike, showcasing their “modern mountain fusion” with a dynamic live show and a two award-winning albums. Brushfire Stankgrass holds Asheville’s #1 ranking for bluegrass bands on reverbnation.com. Their sophomore effort Microclimates is currently ranked #2 on the Relix & jambands.com radio airplay charts and was named as one of WNCW’s top 100 releases of 2013. The two founding members (Ben and Will Saylor, banjo and guitar) are brothers who have been playing music since the age of three. Together with a rhythm section comprised of Micah Thomas on drums and Daniel Iannucci (both are seasoned and well known Asheville musicians), the groups chemistry is obvious. Their debut album was featured in Relix Magazine’s top radio airplay charts in 2011, climbing as high as #2 and staying in the top 5 for 3 months. Last year’s live performance highlights included nearly 100 tour dates, and several notable festival appearances. WNCW listeners voted One for the Salamanders as a top ten regional release of the year and both albums are currently available from all major online music stores. Microclimates features several top tier guest performers and is on track to remain on the radio charts well into the spring. Brushfire Stankgrass invites you to smell their sounds.

American AquariumHailing from Raleigh, NC, American Aquarium’s southern musical perspective is a blend of honest songwriting, an unwavering work ethic, and a genuine love of rock & roll. Whether you call it alt-country, Americana, or roots rock, one thing is for certain: Their music is a fresh voice that borrows from many forms of the American songbook.

25-year old songwriter and band leader, BJ Barham, brings songs to the five other band mates who breathe life into a performance that is equal parts Springsteen-esque rock bravado, old-school country lyrical heartbreak, and indie-rock introspection.

Jeff Coffin and The Mu’tet @ Clementine
Nov 7 @ 9:00 pm – 11:45 pm

Jeff Coffin and The Mu'tetTHE MU’TET is led by JEFF COFFIN, saxophonist from Dave Matthews Band. Also a composer, educator, and 3x Grammy winner, you likely know Jeff from his 14 year tenure with the genre-defying Bela Fleck & the Flecktones (1997-2010).
The Mu’tet takes its name from the word ‘mutation’, clearly reflecting Coffin’s philosophy that music must continue to change and mutate in order to grow.
