Phish Bring in the Meatstick

Phish rang in 2011 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  The crowd was rocked by the band who brought on stage Broadway dancers, hot dog vendors, thousands of balloons, and back from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the flying hot dog!

Take a look at the melee in this 20 minute video:

See But Don’t Hear Jerry

Some filmmakers planning to create a biopic about Grateful Dead singer Jerry Garcia have been dealt some bad news – they’re not allowed to use any of Jerry’s music.  According to Variety, Garcia’s estate and the band’s production company are not working with the film and thus, not licensing any recordings for the production.  The filmmakers plan to use cover songs that Jerry sang instead.  No word yet on when the flick will hit theaters.

The movie is based on the book Dark Star: An Oral Biography of Jerry Garcia, which used interviews from people who knew Jerry to document the challenges he faced in life.

It’s Like Shooting Phish…

There were rumors about Phish putting out a concert film and now, those reports have been confirmed.  The band made it official that Phish 3D: The Movie will come out next month.  It will feature concert footage shot during all eight of the group’s Festival 8 sets from last October.  Trailers for the flick will air before Alice in Wonderland 3D screenings and you can learn more at Phish3DMovie.com.
