WAS Run

Fundraiser to Benefit Wintergreen Adaptive Sports

Area runners will don their brightest neon colored clothing for the WAS Run on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 9:30 AM.  Hosted by Wintergreen Adaptive Sports (WAS), the 5k, 8k run fundraiser will start and finish at the Devils Backbone Brewing Company in Wintergreen (Nelson County), Virginia.

Both participants and volunteers can preregister online for the “WAS Run” through wintergreenadaptivesports.org/was-5k-8k-run/.  Packet pickup and late cash only registration is on race morning between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The 5k is $20, the 8k is $25 and a “WAS running” t-shirt is $10. All proceeds from this event supports WAS in its mission to improve the lives of those with disabilities through outdoor sports and recreation.  At WAS, “all we see is possibility.”

About Wintergreen Adaptive Sports

Wintergreen Adaptive Sports is a non-profit that offers adaptive instruction in alpine skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and canoeing for participants of any age or disability level. Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals with a disability through outdoor sports and recreation.

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, next to the slopes of Wintergreen Resort and adjacent to Wintergreen’s beautiful Lake Monocan, all we see is possibility. We have a wide array of adaptive sports equipment to meet individualized needs and our highly trained staff is skilled and compassionate. Participants in our programs include people with autism, developmental disabilities, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, visual impairments, wounded warriors, and more.

Adaptive sports provide people living with disabilities a way to break down barriers of participation and experience remarkable sporting achievement.
