It is summer and we all need to lighten up a bit.  Hopefully this week’s pics will do the trick.

For something frothy, head to Live Arts in Charlottesville as Elle Woods sings her way into Harvard Law and beyond in Legally Blonde, the Musical. This story based on a novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name, demonstrates that being yourself is always in style.

For some a la carte art, go to RVA First Fridays Art Walk in Richmond. Stroll along 10 blocks of  downtown Broad Street featuring 44 galleries, eateries, shops and spontaneous exhibition spaces.

Then, enjoy a slice of nostalgia at the Old Time Country Albemarle County Fair   at nonprofit Ash Lawn Highland. This is an agricultural celebration for the whole family featuring everything from baked goods to pageant queens to 4-H live stock exhibits.

For more information on these and other events go to wnrn.org and make a wnrn culture connection.
