This week, I chose three things I adore: 1. Photography. I had wanted to be a photographer at one point in my life, which speaks to my love for the still image. 2. Jazz, which is another thing I adore, as witnessed by the many nights I spent in night clubs listening to whatever jazz musician I was dating at the time. 3. Food. This tour hits some of my favorite restaurants in Richmond .

Here are my picks for June 10 – 16:

LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph

Lovers of the still image will get into “3 days of peace, love and photography,” at the Look3 Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville this weekend, featuring photography exhibitions, outdoor projections, workshops and interviews with guest photographers at the biggest festival of its kind in Virginia.  Look3 is a non-profit and strives to be as accessible and non-commercial as possible.

Great photography deserves great background music, and  D.C, native, Lenny Marcus, brings his Jazz Trio to Ellington’s  in Lynchburg on Saturday, showing off his Marsalis-inspired chops with a program that varies from high energy to meditative.

Speaking of chops, the folks at real Richmond have put together a fun foodie tour called, Both Sides of Broad: The Art & Soul of Richmond that takes participants on a tasting stroll through the heart of the Monroe and Jackson Ward neighborhoods. Stops include galleries like Quirk and possible visits to such Richmond standards as Perly’s, Tarrant’s Cafe, and Comfort.

Have a spectacular week!
