I met Tim when he interviewed me to be a volunteer at the station a few years back. I never did work there, since I live too far, but had hoped to make contact with him once again when we moved to the area. R.I.P. Tim.

Jacqueline Berry says:

My family and I wanted to let you know at the station that our thoughts are with you, as well as with Tim’s family and other friends. What a tragic loss for all of us. We hope that his memory lives on through the music he loved.

Janet says:

After the Silver Sun Pick-ups
and the Kings of Leon:
Shot in the back to fall
hard among the rocks and trees,
Tim never had another chance to
greet that sweet sunset
or his gathering listeners.

I mourn his death as I still do
that of my own son;
almost the same age – give and take those 10 years
since I began practiced grief
made just bearable by poetry and
music and the love of my companions.

These hearts do love and break again
as once again we must let go
and as quickly as we can
find more love and poems and
music to live with and to carry on –
forever changed and always the same sadness.

Brian Taylor says:

I and my family are regular listeners and contributors to your station, by far the best in the area.
We are shocked and deeply saddened by
this senseless act. We have all lost a friend.

Matt says:

I am a longtime listener of WNRN and have enjoyed listening to the always enthusiastic and fun-loving DJing of Tim Davis.

I am so sorry to hear that not only has he passed away, but that his life was undeservedly and pointlessly taken away from him.

I hope that the piece of shit who did this receives what he deserves–death.

That still will not bring back Tim to his family, friends, and loved ones, or to the thousands of listeners like myself who had the pleasure of listening to his passion for music and life these past several years on WNRN.

May peace be with your loved ones Tim. We miss you already.

Sincerely,
Matt

I have been in or around Charlottesville radio since the mid 1970s. This market has seen a lot of excellent talent go through even to the highest levels of radio and broadcasting. Tim was one of those talented people. I fully expected enjoy watching Tim’s progress to much bigger things. He was very good already and had the potential to be excellent. He was a true ‘radio person’ in the best sense!

I was at the station for the fund drive Tuesday a week ago and last said ‘hi!’ to him. I also watched his ‘dance’ in front of the microphone for what I couldn’t realize was on last time. That encouraged me to bring a camera in the next day. I ended up leaving before Tim came in (there would be many other chances, wouldn’t there?). Fortunately others saw his art enough to at least record that. I heard him on the air a couple more times and all of these things will be etched in my memory for the rest of my time.

Death is impossible to understand. At least the other people in my life have died form aging or disease that couldn’t be prevented. Pointless deaths or injuries caused intentionally by others are the worst; I think. Deaths like Morgan Harrington’s are extremely troubling even if you don’t know the victim. Knowing the victim is even one step worse. At least Tim’s friend is going to be (mostly) OK. I wish for her and Tim’s family any and all peace that is possible.

Jerrica says:

Tim Davis was a man beyond description who helped me become my true self, he was a dear dear friend that I will always love and will carry in my heart forever. My prayers go out to his family-both blood and the wnrn family which i know meant so much to him. It would be impossible for any of us who knew Tim to forget him, so he will never truly be gone. We love you Tim. And we miss you beyond words. *kiss*

David C. says:

I am so sorry to hear of Tim’s untimely death. I, like others, was hoping that he would recover from his injuries. My anger becomes so intense when senseless people do such idiotic things. My heart goes out to his family and all his friends, as well as his extended family of listeners. My heart aches …

Chris says:

I’ll never be able to listen to WNRN again without thinking of Tim. Not such a bad thing, really.
Best to his friends, family and colleagues.

Laura says:

I turned WNRN in the 7 o’clock hour tonight, made me so sad. He was so kind to my children and I, we saw him this past pledge drive, I can’t imagine not seeing him there in the Fall. I feel so awful for his last few moments last Monday evening. So hard to understand it all…

Miranda says:

I just wanted to take the time to express first, my gratitude to Tim for all his hard work on the station, I love WNRN and it is a regular part of my day. I was deeply saddened to learn of this tragedy & pray for peace & comfort for Tim’s family & friends. God Bless you all. I lift you up in prayer.
